Mahyco produces seed for a wide range of crops including hybrid cotton, hybrid field crops and hybrid vegetables. Mahyco produces top quality seeds through its vast network of contract growers. Mahyco's production centres situated across India, namely, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
Mahyco has more than one lakh registered contract growers in its network, spread all over India for production and multiplication of its proprietary seed material. Parental seeds with very high genetic purity are provided to the contract growers for further multiplication and are procured back under strict quality norms.
The production process is monitored by qualified and experienced technical staff. The major part of the production is carried out during Kharif (rainy season) and Rabi (winter season) and a few products are produced during the summer season as well. Mahyco also produces for third party companies from India and abroad.
The production is carried out through well defined processes supported by SAP system. The seed production growers are selected based on the past performance records and their experience. For this purpose, Mahyco has created an informative grower base in the system. The dedicated band of production staff monitors the production fields at critical crop stages in order to help the growers to get better yield and maintain seed quality as per defined norms.
Field days are conducted to educate growers about new production techniques and build confidence in growers to take up the production. Mahyco is the pioneer in initiating CMS/GMS based production, Bt cotton production and also to initiate vegetable seed production under nets to improve the yield and health of crops.
Mahyco also conducts grower welfare programmes such as grower insurance schemes (premium paid by Mahyco), assisting growers to avail bank loans and by conducting health camps for the seed production growers.
